Michigan Association of Government Computer Users (MAGCU) was founded in 1980 to provide educational and networking opportunities for Information Technology professionals across the State of Michigan. Through its newsletter, surveys, annual conference, and website, members can share experiences, ideas, and information among a group of people with similar needs and interests, fostering the efficient and value-added application of information technology throughout Michigan government. At our 2006 annual Fall Conference, the membership of the Michigan Association of Governmental Computer Users (MAGCU) unanimously voted to affiliate with Government Management Information Sciences (GMIS), an international association of public sector IT professionals. We've been Mi-GMIS ever since! |
Mi-GMIS is built upon three Pillars that help define and focus our mission for our members. |
GrowthGrowth of our membership provides more opportunities for enrichment and culture as new voices, skills, and experiences are brought into our community with each new member. | EnrichmentEvery member gains enrichment through collaboration and involvement at Mi-GMIS events, activities, and learning opportunities. | CultureHow members work to help themselves and each other helps define the atmosphere of Mi-GMIS to make it conducive to being a place for people to belong. |
Our culture of collaboration provides opportunities for us to enrich ourselves from our connections with each other that allow us to build off of each other’s experiences and knowledge. This in turn helps drive people to want to be part of Mi-GMIS which cultivates our growth and provides more opportunities that helps invigorate our culture.
This then helps provide enrichment and so on and so on. Each Pillar helps support the other two pillars to make Mi-GMIS a community for all. |
