Greetings, MiGMIS members! On behalf of the entire MiGMIS Board, I would like to welcome you to the 2019 MiGMIS Fall Conference at Boyne Mountain. Our theme for this year’s conference is “Momentum Despite Chaos.” With this theme in mind, the Sessions Committee has pulled together sessions that demonstrate some of the progress being made as well as sessions that illustrate some of the challenges ahead. It is our goal that you will leave this conference with renewed confidence in things you are doing and feel better prepared for the additional challenges facing you in the coming year.
Please join us Sunday night for the Welcome Reception to kick things off. Monday starts off with a dynamic keynote with award winning international keynote speaker and business leader Manley Feinberg who will discuss “Chaos and Momentum: How to Gain Clarity, and Get What’s Important Done Every Day”. Sessions with topics on security, collaboration, and employee related issues will round out the rest of Monday and Tuesday, with a second keynote that you won’t want to miss on Wednesday morning. This memorable keynote will feature the illustrious Phil Bertolini talking about Leadership. We haven’t forgotten, the State of Michigan will also be there to give us updates on topics pertinent to local government. And yes, another not to be missed session - everyone’s favorite Birds of a Feather - is back and always provides great discussions on topics that you select.
Remember, our sponsors and vendors play a major role in the success of our conference so please take the time to visit with them. This year Access Interactive, AT&T, CDWG and Dell are our Platinum Sponsors. As has been our tradition, vendor booths will have puzzle pieces which when you complete the puzzle will put you in the running for a fabulous gift.
As we are technology professionals, we will continue having the conference be paperless, the entire conference is available on your smart device. The free app (EventsXD) will serve as your interactive guide to all session information and conference events. In addition, after each session you will be able to fill out a survey about the session you just attended while it is still fresh in your mind. This valuable information will help us better prepare for next year’s conference. We are always interested in hearing suggestions to improve the conference. So if you have ideas, we invite you to share them with a board member or when you complete the post conference survey.
Before I close, our Board would like thank our Session Committee and all the others who have put lots of time and effort into making this conference possible. We could not do it without you. We’d also like to thank you, our members, for attending the conference. You are the heart of MiGMIS, the reason we do what we do here.
Welcome and enjoy the conference!
